the ⭐ first rule of distinguish is not to overthink distuingish. instead of thinking of this community as faux-celeb or celeb think of us as a fictional pb-celebrity community that functions like pb instead of the way celeb communities function. you're playing real celebrities but here at distinguish they are characters and more fictional than ever. our similarities to celeb ends with their name and careers. you do not have to follow them religiously, read every single interview, watch all of their movies, etc. like most do in celeb. we mostly encourage that you follow their career aka if they get announced for a new project, announce a new album, etc. you can run with that ic! but by all means we are not a serious community where everyone is going to police or is going to be policed by how each celebrity is written. we encourage that our members take some liberties.

⭐ celebrity guidelines
01. you need to keep your celebrity's entire career (all filmography/discography/appearances/awards - even the bad or problematic roles/songs/etc.), general background (where they are from, their birthday, parents, family are non-negotiable) and general personality. what do we mean by general? unlike in traditional 'celeb' communities, we mean there is room for liberties and interpretation and personality changes. as mentioned above, you don't have to follow your celeb's career, interviews and personal life religiously. if you follow another celebrity, don't project your view of them on to someone writing them here. if emma stone does an interview and mentions loving her new dog, you shouldn't be running to the member playing her here and mentioning the dog. only things that are brought up ic should be acknowledged. *UPDATE: when it comes to keeping family the same, siblings/parents are required to stay the same. actors and actresses with children do not have to include their children in this portrayal if they do not want to, or can have them with a different celeb as well.

02. you can write any celebrity you want that is famous in any arena: film, tv, theater, music, social media, literature, etc. we do not bar you from writing celebrities that have problematic issues but like faux-celeb you cannot write anyone that is abusive or racist. your chris browns, johnny depps, etc. any attempt will end in auto-rejection. some celebs have a lesser known history of abuse or sexual harassment - ie; ben affleck, michael fassbender. we will not allow these celebs either so if you're unsure should do some research. having said that we mods do not follow every celeb that exists and you should alert us to anyone that apps with someone that has accusations of these things otherwise we may not catch it. we will never intentionally add an abuser if we are aware they are one.

03. while we do allow liberties to be taken we ask that you respect lgbtq sexualities and celebrity gender. celebs that are gay, bisexual, non-binary, trans, etc. should be adhered to. you may take liberties with straight celebs, as they are not in the minority and there will never be a shortage of straight celebs to write.

⭐ storylines
01. like most pb comms, we're sure you want to set up storylines. before you do you should know that family and co-stars are basically all you're required to keep. best friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, exes, etc. are all up in the air for you and you are not required to keep any kind of history like that for your celebrity. you can plan those out with anyone because again, this is sort of an au reality for your celeb. you are not entitled to get any kind of line, let alone romantic, with someone your celeb is linked to irl. in fact, you should be exploring the opposite! you can run with the cliche option if you have chemistry ic, so don't feel like you can't do that either if it happens.

o2. HAVE FUN WITH FINDING STORYLINES! for example, if you are writing a singer/songwriter like taylor swift, find someone new to claim 'style' is written about that isn't harry styles.

o3. willing to make adjustments! we know it can cause issues if your character has a line with one and they leave and a new person brings that celeb. you can work with them if they'd like to fill that line but they are not obligated to. if you brought zendaya and she's been dating barry keoghan for the past 4 months, and then that barry leaves you have to be willing adjust her current status and history if the new person doesn't want to carry on that exact storyline. you can fill that history with an unnamed celeb, or find someone else as well! it never hurts to ask and we do encourage anyone bringing a replacement celeb to be open-minded as well about possibly filling previously held lines. but again, there's no obligation.

⭐ how to set up
01. you need an ooc journal and only an ooc journal. finding ic journals for celebs will be impossible for most. you will need an ic post and and a screened ooc post!

02. while it's obvious why you don't have to write a bio we still want you to put the basic info on your celeb (full name, birthdate, hometown, career focuses (actor, singer, etc) in your journal with a link to their wiki, imdb and/or equivalent resume page. if you are changing something about their history that you feel should be noted you can add that too.

03. backdate your entries, add the mod journal and change your comment settings to friends only.

⭐ activity
01. once you're accepted you are expected to intro within 72 hours. we allow 24 hour extensions and all you have to do is ask. you must reply to your comments or your intro will not count. if you are added after the 15th of a month, your intro will count as your update.

02. you are expected to update once a month. updates are of course: narratives, social media posts, playlists, etc. anything substantial. as for interaction, we aren't going to make you drop us links to activity on the fp, but we need to see you commenting the fp during the week. this is required. if you can't reach out and comment on the fp, this isn't the community for you. you must participate in monthly activities or anything beyond your own friends and customs.

03. you will be removed if you have a flist out of date more than 7-10 days or if you did not drop off your activity before month end. like all other communities we will be holding activity checks when we feel it is necessary.

⭐ apps, kindness, etc
01. we are a fp focused community that does not allow wire or other apps. getting caught using wire or any other app with anyone in the community will get you removed and banned.

02. you are expected to be kind and courteous ooc. if you don't like the way someone is writing a celebrity well, tough shit. concentrate on your own and mind your own business. please be an adult and ignore anyone that bugs you. we have a no asshole policy here so if you're proven to be an asshole ooc, you are out.
